The boundary wall of the former northern entry to the Box Hill Cemetery was failing and declared to be unsafe.
The wall was taken down carefully, by hand, brick by brick with a view to minimise breakages.
All the original bricks demolished were cleaned and ready to be relayed back into the new wall.
The existing footing was found to be 150mm thick and grossly inadequate. It was removed and a new footing was engineered and installed. The steel reinforcing cage was assembled on site.
Adjustable masonry ties were installed back to the existing structure to tie the new wall to the existing building immediately adjacent.
The Finished result of the wall.
