The Crown Street Stables, Flemington

Made famous by the one night's hospitality it extended to Phar Lap, the Crown Street Stables were falling apart, literally.

We were engaged by Moonee Valley City Council firstly to erect temporary propping while the restorative work could be scoped. Heritage experts and consulting structural engineers BHS were engaged to complete the design.

Bored piers to six metres were installed to the full perimeter. The brickwork was then extensively repaired. The roof was replaced and new ventilators were built by heritage carpenter Peter Buckland in Warrandyte Victoria, to match the existing dilapidated vents.

Rising damp was rectified long term by the installation of Lectros electric control.
